Just before we went to Monte's parents house for Mother's Day we talked with the kids and came up with a plan on how to tell them we were expecting a baby. Our families knew that we had been working on our adoption papers and were just about done. This is how we told his parents and his sister and her family:
We told them that we had a birth mother (me) and had met her. The kids each told something they liked about the birth mother (me). Monte's mom and sister we already crying at this point and I worried that maybe this wasn't the best idea. We then told them that the baby was due in December and that the birth mother was me. How excited they all were for us. We also shared with them the scriptuer found in Ether 12:6 - ". . . for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith." We feel like this scripture really applies to us. Monte had shared this scripture with me and told me that he felt like this is what the Lord was trying to teach us. We needed to prove to the Lord that we were going to do whatever it took, putting our trust in Him, and staying faithful before we were doing to receive this great blessing. This now has become a favorite scripture our ours. I was so fun telling our great news to Monte's family.
